About Of The Takamul Center

The Takamul Center for Studies and Research was established on March 21, 2015, in Marrakesh, by a group of researchers and scholars who belong to various scientific and intellectual disciplines. Aware of the necessity to intensify efforts and mobilize energies in order to contribute to the scientific research and develop an intellectual system that is compatible and responsive to the needs of society and its various challenges, they show a constant desire to formulate a framework for fruitful scientific cooperation, exchange of experiences and expertise, and develop ideas.

The center’s headquarters is located in Marrakesh, but its scientific activities extend to various Moroccan cities. The objectives of the center range from monitoring the various cultural, social, political, economic, environmental, human rights and literary phenomena to analyzing and studying them in an academic way by respecting and consolidating many principles and values such as: human rights, equality, social justice, democracy identity, citizenship and tolerance, and also by rejecting all forms of discrimination and violence. For this purpose, the center provides set of reports and studies which shed light on these issues.

Also, the Center works to contribute to the awareness of duties and rights at the level of the public sphere, in order to create political upbringing and citizenship education capable of establishing an independent and conscious society that recognizes various pluralities and affiliations (intellectual, cultural, political, ideological, ethnic and geographical) and interacts with various major social and political issues, relying in particular on the gender approach as an integral part of the basic components of human, social, political and economic development.

In the political and social sphere, the center aims to contribute to make public life more transparent through activating the principles of good governance and effective democratic practices, strengthening the culture of interest in public affairs and the belonging to the national socio-cultural fabric within the framework of supporting national and human culture, and spreading awareness of the importance of local culture.

In order to achieve its goals, the Center implements the following means: organizing forums, scientific and cultural seminars, inviting thinkers in various scientific fields, such as; development, democracy, human rights, citizenship and so on. On the other hand, the center creates research forums and training days for the benefit of researchers in various Moroccan scientific institutions and universities. It also encourages the publication of contributions and research related to the development of society and the enrichment of scientific research. On the third side, the center provides consultations and organizes volunteer campaigns and workshops that seek to initiate societal action by creating partnerships with associations and organizations, or any national or international body that cares about the same values and goals of the center.

The center is based on a conceptual vision, represented by the name “Takamul center”. According to the founders of the Center, this name indicates the adoption of the “Interdisciplinary Approach of knowledge and research”, because of their belief in the evidence of integrated knowledge between the various scientific disciplines, and the overlapping of sciences and fields of knowledge, which justifies taking this epistemological background of the center. This proposition is also due to the founders’ belief that the time of specialized research centers and institutes, at least in the field of humanities, has passed away due to the complexity of the phenomena that belong to the world of culture, mankind, history, society and politics.

Last but not least, it should be noted that the Takamul Center is not affiliated to any government agency, but it often involves official institutions in its meetings, provides them with reports on its work, and delivers copies of its publications. Believing in the necessity of partnership between civil society and government institutions, the center works to spread awareness and culture, host experts, train and produce ideas and experiences that aid development. In this context, it should be noted that the press actively contributes to exposing the activities of the center to public opinion.
