As facets of liberalization and economic openness, Export Processing Zones allow host countries to focus their reform efforts for the layout of specific territories by endowing them with specific regimes in order to enhance FDI attractiveness and to promote exports. These areas, which have become key vehicles of development policies advocated by most states, are an integral part of an international order, most prominently of that of the multilateral trading system.
